Cookie Policy

Effective Date: [Last Updated: September 6, 2026] Applies to: https://thermite.rs

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Hauke Jung ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on Thermite (the "Service").

The short version: we use one cookie, it keeps you signed in, and there is nothing else. We run no analytics product, no advertising or marketing trackers, and no third-party tracking scripts. That is why you see no cookie banner — there is no non-essential storage to ask you about.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Where required by law, we will always ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies. Should that ever change, this policy is updated first.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function properly, enhance user experience, and provide information to website owners.

Cookies may be:

  • Session cookies – deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies – stored until they expire or are deleted manually.
  • First-party cookies – set by our website.
  • Third-party cookies – set by external services integrated into our website.

3. What We Actually Store

Name Type Purpose Consent Required Lifetime
Session cookie Strictly necessary, first-party, signed Keeps you signed in and links your browser to your server-side session. Requests that change state are additionally protected by an origin check (CSRF protection). No Expires after 7 days of inactivity
theme Not a cookie — browser local storage Remembers your light/dark preference so the page does not flash the wrong theme on load. Read and written entirely in your browser. No Until you clear site data

The theme value is listed for completeness because §25 TDDDG covers storage on your device generally, not only cookies. It is never transmitted to our servers and contains nothing but the strings light or dark.

We set no analytics, advertising, personalization or marketing cookies of any kind, and we embed no third-party scripts that could set one.

4. Third-Party Services and Cookies

Service Purpose EU Data Residency Policy
FerrisKey User authentication and login management Self-hosted on our own infrastructure Covered by our Privacy Policy (no third-party processor)

FerrisKey runs on our own servers, so the login flow involves no external party and sets no third-party cookie. No payment provider, analytics vendor or CDN is embedded in the Service.

Note that error reports submitted by your applications reach us through a direct API call from your server or client SDK — that path uses no cookies at all, only a DSN key. Nothing about error ingestion places storage on an end user's device.

5. Managing Cookies

You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling our session cookie will make it impossible to sign in — it is the only thing keeping you logged in. Public pages, including the documentation, work fine without it.

Here are links to cookie management instructions for popular browsers:

You can also sign out from the dashboard, which invalidates the session and clears the cookie.

6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR & TDDDG)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and §25 of the German TDDDG (which replaced the TTDSG), we may store or access information on your device only if:

  • It is strictly necessary to provide the service you requested; or
  • You have given your prior consent.

Everything described in Section 3 falls under the first case: the session cookie is required to deliver an authenticated service you asked for, and the theme preference is required to render the interface you asked for. The legal basis for the associated personal data processing is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR — necessary to perform the service.

We currently rely on no consent-based storage at all, so there is nothing for you to withdraw.

7. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in technology, law, or our cookie usage. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always indicate the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on our website.
